These are my submissions for the RockySop Game Jam v2! This includes music currently, but soon there will also be art and a game!

Themes:

  • Music - 16 Bit
  • Art - Retro
  • Game - Circles

About the Music:

I didn't really understand the theme 16 bit so I looked up 16 bit music and found some smoother style chiptune music so I decided to run with it. Below are some details about the music that I made for the jam:

  • PATTERN: (4, 16)
  • BPM: 120
  • Chord: Minor
  • INSTRUMENTS: MA3 Wave, Triangle LO-FI, Dual Saw, Noise (Bass)
  • OTHER INFO:

    • Length: 0:48
    • Filters: Low Pass Filter Used
    • About: So, I decided to get to making this tune. Originally I had no idea what I wanted to make so I just messed around a bit. Although, for some reason my power went out for a split second. Which made me lose all my work and therefore had to start over. So, originally the tune would have been very different. Although, I tried to salvage the idea.  I chose the Minor chord and decided to pick three octaves (I guess that's what you call it) and wanted to make a short tune. I decided to alternate which sound was played  through the main part of the song so I'd do something like C6, C7, C8. Then on the next bar I'd do D#6, D#7, D#8, etc. And that is how I came up with this tune.

I'll add more to this as the jam progresses.

About the Art:

Since the theme was retro at first I was thinking of drawing a character in the style of the pip boy 2000 from halo, but I also remembered a 3D scene style from like the 80s with a sort of wire frame and metallic ground with a sunset that the camera is facing and thought this would be much cooler and I already knew how to do it, except I added more stuff to make it feel like something that could be in a game. Now with that in mind this is what I made, it's a retro 80's 3D environment like a level or something with obstacles that the player (from the point of view of the camera) would have to dodge. I thought it was pretty cool! Made in Blender.

About the Game:

The theme for the game was Circles so this is what I made, it's a simple sort of maze game like those old horror maze games from back in the day. Although, don't worry no jump scares included! The goal is simple collect all the coins and survive. Let's see if you can survive and complete all the levels. It gets pretty difficult, especially near the end. You play as a Green Circle boy who needs to collect all of the yellow circles (his friends) and dodge the bullies. I hope you enjoy, I put this together at the last minute!
